Why do so many businesses do everything they can to not take your money? Here’s what happened the other day. My son lent his car to a friend who ran it into a parked car, smashing the right bumper, fender and headlight. (Sigh. L That’s another story for another time.)

Anyway, these dumb asses at the shop gave my son an estimate that had the word “bumper” in it, as well as the fender and light. When my son picked up the car, the freakin’ bumper is still hanging out and all bent. They fixed the fender and headlight. Not the bumper though.

When my son asked for an explanation the idiot said…”Oh I thought you wanted it fixed as cheap as possible.” Huh? WTF does that mean? My son asks, “Why was it in the quote but not fixed?” Mr. Moron replies, “That item in the estimate was just to move the bumper, not fix it. You should have told me that if you wanted it fixed.” Huh?

WTF?? Who would do this? When we brought the car in we said, “Please give us an estimate to FIX IT.” We didn’t know we were supposed to tell him how to do his job. Nor that the item that says, “bumper” just means moving it to fix the other stuff, but not fix it too. And we never said to fix it as cheap as possible. That’s what THIS IDIOT would have done if it was his car, and he projected his pea brain, loser mindset onto us…as if we think like him.

BAD DECISION. NEVER think that the way YOU think is the way your prospects and customers think!! If you project how you think unto your customers, you will likely struggle or go broke. All that matters is making sure you understand how they think, and communicate that way to them! Remember…YOU ARE NOT YOUR CUSTOMER!! I’ve seen my members and students make mistakes similar to this body shop genius, and cannot stress how important this point is. More on this in future posts…
